The Free Jack Idema Blogburst

For anyone following the Jack Idema story, this week has been as frustrating as last week was eventful.

Last time around, the situation was that Pulacharke prison, where Jack Idema, Brent Bennett and Ed Caraballo are being illegally held, was largely under the control of rioting Taliban and al-Qaeda prisoners. Ed was a hostage, while Jack and Brent were holed up in their annex, armed, and protected by a group of Northern Alliance soldiers.

Then, late last Wednesday, a team of Afghan soldiers, led by Colonel Sherzaman (the brother of General Sherzaman, who died protecting Jack during a similar riot a year ago), forced their way into Block 1 and freed Ed Caraballo.

Meanwhile, the Karzai government were working hard to appease the terrorists into ending their protests (along with the gang-rape of female prisoners). Acting through an ex-Taliban 'peace envoy', Mullah Mujahedi, assurances were made that none of the rioters would be punished for their orgy of rape and violence. This move seems to have taken the sting out of the terrorists' will to resist, and Afghan Ministry of Justice troops finally reoccupied the prison during the course of Thursday.

Running alongside these events, however, SuperPatriots were also reporting that President Karzai was demanding that all weapons and communications equipment Jack and Brent were using be confiscated. By last Tuesday (Feb. 28th) afternoon (at around the same time as rioting terrorists were being given amnesty), Karzai seems to have decided to use the Afghan army to back up these demands. This was the result:

Someone, unknown, orders Karzai's National Army to surround Jack's BLOCK 2 ANNEX and take up security. National Army soldiers point guns and Jack, and Jack's MOJ and Panjshir commandos return the favor, resulting in a stand-off between the MOJ and the National Army. It escalates to within seconds of bullets flying when a Karzai National Army soldier occupies the tower and points his weapon at Jack from the tower. After a two hour stand-off, yelling, and swearing on both sides, the National Army is withdrawn and Jack's BLOCK TWO ANNEX falls back to TF SABER and the MOJ.

Plainly, Karzai wasn't happy that Jack had helped publicise the truth about events inside Pulacharke. After all, Karzai and the U.S. State Department had spent the week playing down the scale of the riots, misrepresenting the true number of dead, and denying that the women hostages were being repeatedly raped. The last thing they wanted was to see the truth about what was happening leaking out, and especially not in the days leading up to President Bush's visit.

Added to all this, members of the MSM spent the week of the riots clamouring for interviews with Jack and his team. Although Jack turned them down flat, it's a fair bet that MSM were aware of the information being released through SuperPatriots and blogs, and were pressuring Kazai and Afghan authorities for a truer picture of what was happening inside the prison.

The reason all this matters is because no one has heard from Jack, Brent or Ed since last Wednesday (1st March):

What happened to the Americans at Pulacharke? No one can reach them. The US Embassy refuses to comment. Jack no longer answers his phone, and Ministry of Justice will not even acknowledge his whereabouts. Caraballo and Bennett have also disappeared in Afghanistan and literally off the face of the earth. Banderas? No word on him either. Any Afghans reading this should contact Jack's Panjshir soldiers and ask them to send us an email if they have any info. A journalist from AP told us today that he heard the FBI had gone to Pulacharke with the National Police or NDS with orders from Karzai to "deal with the Americans there." What is the real story, and what happened to these guys?

With no news coming out of the prison, it's difficult for any of us to even make a guess as to what's happening. Has Jack been moved out of Pulacharke? If so, by Karzai's people or his friends in the Northern Alliance?

Right now, all we can do is wait for news.

I am joining Ogre's Quest.

Ogre's Quest, if a quest you'd call it, is to celebrate St. Patricks Day for half a month, as opposed to one tiny day.

So in that flavor, and because a post he did got me to lookin' back through my songs, I have decided to throw one of my favorites up for you to enjoy.

At least, that seems to be the gist of what one columnist for the Daily Illini seems to be making.

Eric Naing, whose opinion piece today is titled "Osama bin Domino's Pizza", states:

Imagine a place where religious extremists control all aspects of life: entertainment, health care, education, even morality. This may sound like some remote Iraqi village under the influence of a Shiite cleric, but if you substitute "remote Iraqi village" with "tomato field in southwestern Florida," and "Shiite cleric" with "guy who founded Domino's Pizza," you get the town of Ave Maria.

Now, let's leave out for a moment that people that may choose to live in Ave Maria will actually CHOOSE to move there, knowing full well what they are going into, and let's also toss out the stark differences between Catholicism and Islamism, and focus on.......wait.....let's go back to that very important part between the differences between Catholics and Muslims, shall we?

In a Muslim society, say for example, Saudi Arabia, the Law from the Koran is the Law of the Land. You cannot drive to the next town over and toss aside your burka and take a dip in a pool in a thong bikini while discussing the finer points of stoning apostates.

Of course, since Shari a IS the Law of the Land, nobody has that freedom, so it is equal. Maybe that is the draw that Islam has on lefties in America. It promises equality across the board based on gender. Hhhhhmmmmm......got to remember to check into that theory.

Naing’s article goes on to state;

Mr. Monaghan plans to impose his will by owning all commercial property in Ave Maria....Aside from the obvious constitutional issues Ave Maria faces, a larger issue of what the Christian right has become emerges.

Since when is owning property, and dictating the terms of the lease, which is what Mr. Monaghan plans to do, a "constitutional issue?"

The disconnect that the left has regarding religion astounds me. Equating Catholicism with Robertson’s brand of Christianity and Radical Islamists is almost the height of inanity that Mr. Naing hits in this article. I say almost.

He tops out his worthless screed by continuing on to equate South Dakota's brand-spanking new anti-abortion law to communism while gratuitously tossing in a completely unrelated bit that one can only take to reference the ID vs. Creationism debates;

The bodies of all women in South Dakota are being declared state property while children are being force-fed junk science and bogus creationist theories.

Let's place this entire thing in context now shall we?

In America, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, a man has the Freedom to build a town and run it as he sees fit, if he can afford it.

If some imam wanted to start a Muslim town I am sure the ACLU, and probably Eric Naing, would defend their right to do just that.

The difference would be in a Catholic town you wouldn't be able to buy a condom or watch a skin flick, and their is no Right in ANY of our Founding documents to either of those things, and in a Muslim town under Shari a Law women would have to wear Burkas and one could not stand on a street corner and preach the Christian Gospel.

The problem there is that in America, one cannot be forced to wear clothing based on religious edicts, nor kept from their Right of Free Speech.

Abolish The EOIR!

There is a dangerous misconception lurking in America’s growing public consciousness about immigration law enforcement. From the man on the street to the halls of Congress, the fatal error persists in the belief that if only current immigration laws were just enforced, the illegal alien invasion of these United States would be over for good.


All would be well if we put the legal mechanisms in place into effect . . . right?


Wrong.


Few Americans even recognize that there’s any problem at all with HOW the federal government goes about deporting illegal aliens and criminal alien residents. Securing the Arizona desert was a piece of cake in comparison—remember that the volunteer Minuteman Project showed the world that they could do it in a month!


So what’s the problem?



It’s too many lawyers, too much litigation and a four-letter word called EOIR.


The problem that hides in plain sight in the current immigration "catch and release" controversy is the litigation bureaucracy of the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR).


The EOIR is a little-known federal agency within the U.S. Department of Justice. It comprises the nationwide U.S. Immigration Court system and its appellate body, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) in Falls Church, Virginia. The EOIR is the centerpiece of a largely unknown de facto stealth permanent amnesty and non-deportation program for illegal aliens and criminal alien residents.

The hidden truth about the EOIR is that America’s deportation process for illegal aliens and criminal alien residents is designed for failure. What starts out as deportation becomes perpetual litigation - and relatively few deportable aliens ever leave.

Other than the few summary removal provisions implemented at ports of entry, the deportation of foreign nationals in the United States is largely voluntary.

With the complicity of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the EOIR litigation bureaucracy forms the concealed piece in the puzzle of institutionalized mass immigration sponsorship by the federal government.

The lengthy EOIR system of hearings and appeals enables illegal aliens and criminal alien residents to remain in the United States both legally and illegally for years, often in perpetuity.

The EOIR and the DHS bureaucracy enable thousands of detained aliens facing deportation to be released back to the streets on an immigration bond or paroled out of federal custody during the EOIR hearing process - giving them the option of disappearing back into the United States regardless of the outcome of their Immigration Court hearings.

The lack of physical security on the land border exposes the EOIR process for the charade that it is. Deported aliens just walk back in.

The EOIR literally makes a federal case out of every illegal alien and criminal alien resident in deportation proceedings by offering a litigation gateway to the federal circuit courts of appeal, and, sometimes, even to the U.S. Supreme Court.

With endless available options for filing appeals and motions available to a competent immigration lawyer, EOIR hearings and appeals are never really over until the alien wins.

Considering the never-ending nature of federal litigation, as well as the laundry list of relief from deportation available in Immigration Court, EOIR "removal" proceedings are really "get to stay" proceedings.

Although alleged to be a system for determining whether particular illegal aliens and criminal alien residents are deportable under the law, in reality the EOIR hearing system is designed to give aliens a mechanism to apply for relief from removal and remain in the United States. The EOIR’s immigration judges routinely award "green cards" (lawful permanent resident status) to illegal aliens through adjustment of status, and also allow convicted criminal aliens to remain in the United States.


While virtually unknown in the major media, the EOIR is the four-letter word of federal immigration policy.


EOIR litigation represents the livelihood of thousands of immigration lawyers, whose interests are represented by their nationwide lobbying group, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). The country's over 200 EOIR immigration judges earn from $109,587 to $142,500 per year, plus generous federal benefits.


The bottom line for America’s taxpayers is that the EOIR is just one more monumental waste of government resources. The EOIR unnecessarily formalizes simple review processes that already are entrusted to specially-trained (and most likely lesser-paid) federal employees including consular officers, district adjudications officers, immigration inspectors, special agents, immigration agents, deportation officers and asylum officers all over the country and the world.


A system dedicated to giving formal hearings and appeals for even previously-deported illegal aliens and criminal aliens is a system begging to be abolished - if only immigration reformers in Congress knew it existed.


So after twenty years of fostering federal litigation instead of deportation, it is high time that the EOIR's specific functions be parceled out to federal law enforcement personnel already in the Department of Homeland Security who can do the job of deporting illegal aliens and criminal alien residents.


In reality, the EOIR litigation bureaucracy is the antithesis of real homeland security. As a deportation system, the EOIR is designed to fail, and it does. But as a machine for facilitating mass immigration, the EOIR is a raging success.


WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE?


Peter Brimelow, editor of VDARE.com, identified the solution in so many words in his 1995 book, Alien Nation—Common sense about America’s Immigration Disaster (page 260). According to Brimelow:

"Deportation procedures, for both legal and illegal aliens, should be streamlined, and criminal aliens automatically deported. . . .


U.S. immigration law has already been significantly weakened by activist judges. But there is nothing sacred about a wrongheaded ruling. The answer is to pass another law. When Americans do seize control of their immigration policy again, it will inevitably take the form of an epic clash between legislative and judicial branches."

So how does Congress go about creating a process to actually deport aliens?


Here are the nuts-and-bolts details:

Take away the EOIR’s jurisdiction piece-by-piece in a move towards abolishing the EOIR’s nationwide U.S. Immigration Court system and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).

Institute summary removal of all illegal aliens and pre-determined classes of criminal alien residents by federal immigration officers without judicial review.

Abolish all stealth amnesty adjustment of status provisions that reward law-breaking (as well as all discretionary "second chances" for criminal aliens) in the Immigration and Nationality Act that are currently administered by the EOIR.

Eliminate the immigration benefit fraud magnet of U.S.-based asylum processing at DHS asylum offices run by its Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) division. Create a system where all asylum processing is done exclusively at U.S. Consulates abroad, or by the U.S. State Department for those countries where the U.S. does not have a consular presence.

Eliminate non-immigrant visa-jumping from one category to another, as well as adjustments from non-immigrant to lawful permanent resident status for aliens already in the United States. All aliens wishing an adjustment of status or change of status should be required to exit the United States and receive a valid visa at a U.S. Consulate abroad, in order to make another lawful entry into the United States. Upon reentry, all applicants must then be able to satisfy the requirements for admissibility to the United States once again, including the unlawful presence grounds of Immigration Act Section 212(a)(9).

The most expedient strategy for handling the EOIR litigation bureaucracy and the candy store of immigration benefits it administers (such as asylum and adjustments of status) comes from the playbook of General Colin Powell. It’s the same plan he used for the Iraqi army in 1991—"first we’re going to cut it off, and then we’re going to kill it."


The EOIR is already marooned.


It is an orphaned agency. Ensconced in Falls Church, Virginia, the EOIR oversees a nationwide Immigration Court system and a Byzantine appellate body, the Board of Immigration Appeals. With the INS abolished and cast out of the Department of Justice, the EOIR now represents a complete mismatch among remaining DOJ agencies, including the FBI, DEA, U.S. Marshals Service and the United States Attorneys.


In the deportation abyss of EOIR litigation, attorneys haggle over "orders of deportation," while over 300,000 fugitives from those orders and as many as 20 million illegal aliens [as estimated by Bear Stearns—PDF] remain loose on the streets.


In short, the EOIR process is the major reason that the federal government remains paralyzed in confronting the millions of illegal aliens and criminal alien residents running free in the United States, despite the supposed intent of policy, and the existence of at least somewhat appropriate laws.


Congress can threaten to "close the border" all it wants, but as long as the EOIR remains in place, all is well for open borders. The system will remain sabotaged behind the scenes.


If the borders are hemorrhaging illegal aliens every day, and there is no reasonably efficient process in place to detain and summarily deport foreign nationals who do not belong on our shores, no one is going to be leaving anytime soon . . . and more aliens will keep coming.


The damage created by the EOIR on federal immigration policy is a scandal of monumental proportions. But so far, the first journalist to call for the EOIR to be abolished was Michelle Malkin. She wrote as much in her book, Invasion (pages 232-33):

"End deportation delays: Abolish the EOIR and BIA—The most under-recognized obstacle to deporting illegal aliens is the shadowy immigration court system and it unaccountable appellate body, which routinely puts aliens’ rights over citizens’ safety. Attorney General John Ashcroft should abolish the Executive Office for Immigration Review and the Board of Immigration Appeals and transfer their functions to existing law enforcement officers within the immigration bureaucracy."

The EOIR is just another example of criminals’ "rights" being expanded and glorified to overwhelm an entire law enforcement process. Under current federal law, all illegal aliens and criminal alien residents have the "right" to a hearing before an EOIR immigration judge, as well as the "right" to appeal their case to the BIA—and then on to the federal courts . . . and back-and-forth almost indefinitely. That’s the problem with expecting to expel illegal aliens and convicted foreign criminals from our country through litigation. It just doesn’t work.


But even though the mainstream media has maintained strict radio silence about the EOIR, the truth about the EOIR bureaucracy manages to leak out one illegal alien at a time.


As aliens benefiting from the EOIR’s "catch and release" process continue to wreak havoc on America, slowly but surely the picture comes into focus . . . that the EOIR bureaucracy is a detriment to the "homeland security" mission of immigration law enforcement.

Just as building a physical barrier is absolutely necessary to stop illegal immigration across the southern border, summary removal of illegal aliens and criminal alien residents is the silver bullet for real immigration reform.


Legislation expanding summary removal and taking jurisdiction away from the EOIR would be a laser-guided missile down the main air conditioning vent of America’s entrenched non-deportation system. Abolishing the EOIR through summary removal would be the vampire-repelling garlic to ward off the legions of AILA lawyers making a living from federal immigration litigation.


Summary removal of illegal aliens by federal officers, with the cooperation of state and local law enforcement, would upset the existing rigged immigration litigation apple cart by simply kicking illegal aliens and convicted criminal alien residents out of the country.


[ER editor's note: The EOIR, and the laws that are supposed to uphold our immigration process are irrevocably broken. It's not the sexiest of topics, but it's important to know that we can't just talk about "enforcing our current immigration laws" without fully realizing that there is a revolving back door that completely undermines our laws. How many times have you heard somebody grumble that illegals know our laws better than WE do? It's true! They know how to work the system and milk it for all it's worth. The Department of Justice’s EOIR is the power behind the scenes in immigration law enforcement and the greatest obstacle to real immigration reform in the federal government. The EOIR is the legal bureaucracy that regulates, and in effect cripples, the deportation of illegal aliens and criminal alien residents in the United States.


Summary removal, not EOIR litigation, should be the future of immigration law enforcement.

In analyzing the entire jurisdiction of the EOIR piece by piece—reviewing all types of relief from removal—every single component is already accomplished by other federal government divisions. And if not already covered, the particular form of relief could be easily moved out of the country for overseas adjudication, or abolished outright as being an ill-conceived reward for criminal behavior in the first place.


Summary removal in effect represents the other side of the coin from the "summary visas for all" impulse of the Bush Administration, exemplified by its ongoing drive for a non-deportation amnesty for existing illegal aliens under the guise of a "guest worker" or "temporary worker" program. By seeking to implement open-ended immigration status hand-out, the Bush Administration apparently sees nothing wrong with making a policy decision about which illegal aliens to let in the country, and then summarily carrying it out on a massive scale.


So why not do the same for summary removal?


We as a nation, through Congress as our policy-makers, should make a decision once and for all on which foreign nationals are going to be let into the country, who remains here, and who is going to be kicked out. Congress should overhaul the Immigration and Nationality Act and decide once and for all which clearly-defined classes of aliens to summarily prevent from entering the United States, as well as which clearly-defined classes of aliens to summarily deport from the United States.


Congress should make its decision, implement a summary process, and stick to it. No questions asked. No EOIR Immigration Court hearings. No redundant BIA review. No federal litigation.


Under the current state of affairs, the EOIR’s decides its own case-by-case personal "amnesties" being decided behind closed doors every day. Congress has abdicated its responsibility by leaving immigration policy to the whim of executive agency bureaucrats and power-hungry federal appellate courts to grant relief one case at a time to illegal aliens and criminal alien residents.


So rather than posturing about "closing the border," Congress should strike a blow for real immigration reform by abolishing the EOIR litigation bureaucracy once and for all.

It’s been one hell of a week for Jack Idema, Brent Bennett and Ed Caraballo, the three Americans illegally imprisoned in Afghanistan.

For the benefit of those who haven’t been following events since last Saturday, Pulacharke, the prison Jack, Brent and Ed are being held at, is now effectively under the control of Taliban and al-Qaeda prisoners. Jack and Brent are holed up in their Block 2 Annex, armed, and protected by members of the Northern Alliance. Ed Caraballo, who was being held in another section of the prison, has been taken hostage by the Taliban, who have threatened to decapitate him if their demands are not met. Other hostages include 50-or-so female prisoners from the womens’ block, who the Taliban have now been gang-raping for the last four days.

So, yes, this is a mess … Though you wouldn’t think that if you were getting your news from MSM, most of whom have slavishly (and, it must be said, lazily) repeated President Karzai’s ‘official’ line without question. Here’s the BBC, yesterday, appearing to believe the riots were winding down nicely:

‘Breakthrough’ in Kabul jail riot
Rioting inmates in Afghanistan’s main prison near Kabul have agreed to hand over their dead and injured, amid signs of a breakthrough in the stand-off.
[…]
One of the chief negotiators said he would be taking the prisoners’ demands to the government and that he was hopeful of a peaceful solution.
Gunfire was heard within the prison walls on Saturday night and Sunday, but the BBC’s Bilal Sarwary in Kabul says the situation was calmer on Monday, with only two gun shots heard, and fewer troops at the scene.

This, of course, came after a terrible night in which female prisoners could be heard screaming such things as:

“Oh Merciful God,” one women screamed repeatedly. Others could be heard screaming in Dari and Pashto, “they are f***ing me, God help me.” “Allah take me, let me die….” “Stop, stop, kill me, kill me first.”

The only reference you’ll find on the BBC to these sickening events is the following, throwaway line:

Senior jail officials say they fear some of the women inmates may have been raped.

Untrue. Jail officials know, for certain, that women are being raped — As would the BBC, leastways if their reporter had been anywhere near Pulacharke during the last few days. Instead, the typical MSM position seems, as usual, to be one of soft-peddling any information that might impact negatively on the activities of their beloved ‘insurgents’.

This also seems to be the attitude of the U.S. State Department and the Karzai government, who’ve spent the week obstructing any and all efforts to use force against the terrorists in order to seize back control of Pulacharke. Here’s just a selection, from the SuperPatriots, of what they’ve been up to since the riots broke out:

• The National Army has been ordered by Karzai not to fire on his “Taliban brothers.”
• US Embassy refuses air support and troops to stop terrorist takeover.
• Apparently, Karzai and the US State Department have interfered with the military response to the revolt.[…]At 1am last night, we said that the MOJ refused to let Jack lead a force in against the terrorists. Although the NA Generals refused to allow Jack and his men to be put a risk, they decided to assault the terrorists with batons followed by a wave of armed troops. THREE AMERICAN advisors sent by the US State Department and Department of Justice were now present, they ORDERED the NA Generals NOT TO ATTACK. The “American Advisors,” who probably know as much about Afghanistan as a car salesman in Wisconsin, were placed in control by Hamid Karzai.
• General Salem-Bashi, one of Massoud’s best generals, along with Northern Alliance Generals Samad and Zorodin are now on site. They planned to again attack BLOCK 2 and put down the revolt. AGAIN, the US State Department and now the Red Cross decided they knew more than the Northern Alliance generals about how to deal with terrorists. The State Department, US Justice Department, and Red Cross “Advisors” called “the palace” and successfully stopped the assault.
• A Karzai spokesman gives a television statement that the women are now safe and in government control. According to our intelligence, this is a complete lie. The women are still held hostage and being raped by the terrorists.
• Karzai officials again give press statements that the women are safe and not in terrorist hands. The reality is far different, the women are disbursed as hostages and are being repeatedly raped by the terrorists.
• Karzai officials are saying that things are fine and they are “considering the demands” of the terrorists. US Department of Justice and State Department “advisors” quickly left the prison earlier today when their plan to negotiate backfired and MOJ lost another two prison blocks to the enemy.
• Karzai and the US Embassy ordered the MOJ police not to attack yesterday morning, and to negotiate. Now the result is what could be the largest gang rape in the world’s modern history.
• Karzai calls the Governor of Kabul and attempts to send in National Police to seize Jack’s phones. Apparently, after unknown foreign journalists complained that Jack was releasing information from inside the prison revolt, and had access to phones and intelligence and photos, Karzai demanded Jack’s communications be shut down. Were journalists upset that Jack and this website were contradicting their fabricated stories of the revolt?
• Karzai’s peace envoy showed up at Pulacharke with five cars of bodyguards. “Minister Mujahedi” promptly outlined Karzai’s plan: give full amnesty to all terrorists and Taliban murderers, surrender the 80 women hostages, get new beds, new clothes, and new digs. No one will be charged with murder, rape, assault, revolt, or any other crime. As if it wasn’t enough, Mujahedi’s speech to the terrorists included telling them, “The men that died here, they died as martyrs.” Mujahedi also ordered officials in the MOJ to continue release false casualty counts, and say that only four or five people had been killed and only thirty wounded, instead of the real numbers which are far higher.

Clearly, something is going terribly wrong with the Afghan end of the WoT. Here we have a situation in which hundreds of the world’s most dangerous and committed terrorists have seized dozens of hostages, including a U.S. citizen. Yet the response from both President Karzai and the U.S. State Department has been to downplay the violence committed by Taliban and al-Queda prisoners, and then to openly negotiate with them. Think about that. Wasn’t the U.S. position after 9/11 supposed to be one of never negotiating with the monsters who brought the twin towers down? Yet, here we are, doing just that, and in response to ‘men’ who are threatening the life of a U.S. citizen in between gang-rapes of female hostages. How on earth did it come to this?

And how, as we learn from al-Reuters, did the following situation arise?:

Mawlavi Mohammad Siddiqi, a cleric who was one of those held by Idema’s vigilante group and is now acting as a mediator in the prison standoff, told reporters Idema was not in danger, but Caraballo was “not in a good place”.

Siddiqi, we will remember, was arrested by Jack Idema while in possession of the following items:

• Photographs of Sidiq with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
• Bomb plans
• Explosive detonators
• al-Qaida and Hezb-i-Islami documents and recruiting cards
• A letter from Taliban leader Mullah Omar

Ironies don’t get any more bitter than this one: that a creature like Siddiqi should be reinvented by the U.S. and Afghan governments as a ‘mediator’, while the brave and decent soldier who arrested him fights for his life in Pulacharke prison, first dismissed as a ‘vigilante’, then ignored by the whole, credulous, MSM. Unbelievable.

Rep. John Hostettler, R-Ind., called veterans who belong to the American Legion to fight again, "to defend our sacred liberties."

"This battle will be fought with letters, e-mails, phone calls and personal visits," he said.

The enemy? The American Civil Liberties Union.

Hostettler was speaking Tuesday to 700 members of the American Legion who are in Washington for an annual convention. Tuesday afternoon, many of them went to lobby their representatives, and Hostettler's bill, the Public Expression of Religion Act, was on their list of requests.

Hostettler told the crowd that Gibson County's Ten Commandments display challenge began because "a local strip club owner said he was offended. If he meant it troubled his conscience, the monument is a benefit to the community."

Chuckles rippled throughout the hotel ballroom, and then applause.

Ultimately, the display was held to be constitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.

But often it goes the other way. Hostettler said, "The more cases they win, the more this false right is reinforced."

Hostettler told the group he has failed to get the bill made into law in four consecutive congressional sessions, and this is the fifth time he's tried.

"We need to pass PERA, and we need to pass PERA now," he said. He urged American Legion members to spread the word to their friends that they oppose "the ACLU and their minions who would enrich themselves at the expense of our Constitution."

Hostettler closed the speech by saying although the ACLU wouldn't like him saying so, "May He (God) continue to bless the United States of America."

Osman Umarji, former president of the Muslim Student Union, speaking about the College Republicans and The United American Committee's student panel discussion on Islamic extremism equated the decision to display the prophet drawings to the debasement of Jews in Germany before the Holocaust.

Finally, a muslim admits that they are exactly the same as the Jews.

That must be what he's stating. He is equating the situation that the Jews were under during the run up to World War Two in Nazi Germany to the situation that muslims are living under in present day America.

I can see such striking similarities. Why, before Hitler locked away all those damnable violent Jews they were running around sawing the heads off of germans and killing those hefty frauliens for eating pork sausage and whipping their hair about in the wind in a seductive manner.

In fact, if Hitler hadn't locked all of the Jews away it is a well agreed on fact that they would have stormed over all of Europe by now, bringing their evil Joo ways to the world and demanding that everyone follow their religion, be second class citizens or die, and well we just couldn't have that now could we?

Yes, the striking similarities between the Jews in pre WW2 nazi germany and todays muslim in the west is EXACTLY identical in almost every respect. The reactions to the violent rampaging Jews in pre WW2 germany was predictable. If we don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat it. The violent Jews of pre WW2 germany met the end that was most befitting them, and, therefore, we cannot allow our peaceful muslim brethren to be dragged from their beds in this day and age and locked away in camps in the middle of the night.

Surely this is what Osman Umarji is trying to say here. That the Jews in pre WW2 germany and the muslims of today are in the same boat, so to speak. Those poor, put upon muslims, peacefully toiling along in life, keeping to themselves and just trying to better their station in life. Not at all like the Jews in pre WW2 germany are they?

A federal judge ruled against a public school teacher who filed a lawsuit after administrators removed Christian-themed postings from his classroom, including a depiction of George Washington praying at Valley Forge and news clippings about the faith of President Bush and former Attorney General John Ashcroft.

William Lee – a Spanish teacher at Tabb High School in York County, Va. – was represented by the Christian public-interest group Rutherford Institute in U.S. District court, arguing his free-speech rights were violated.

The postings, removed at the beginning of the 2004-05 school year after a parent complained, included news articles about Bush's Christian faith and Ashcroft's prayer meetings with staffers.

But Judge Rebecca Beach Smith wrote in her opinion the case "is not about what free speech rights Lee has as an individual expressing himself on private property," according to the Associated Press.

"Rather, this case is a question about what free speech rights Lee has as a public school teacher-employee," she said.

School officials also removed from Lee's classroom a flier promoting the National Day of Prayer.

Lee's attorneys argued his bulletin boards were a limited public forum for the private speech of teachers, but Smith insisted they were part of his curriculum and, therefore, not protected by the First Amendment, the AP said.

Let's look at the facts of this case. If this teacher were to have had posters of, oh, I don't know, let's say for arguments sake, "Great Moments in Islamic History" depicting muhammeds slaughter of a Jewish tribe, or a poster of che the magnificient, would this even be an issue? What if he were to put up a poster of the great generalissimos of latin america, dictators to the last man? Would THAT be permissible? We will probably never know, as thi man is obviously a Christian and a Patriot, which makes him one of the most dangerous types of people in the world today.

Any bets on whether he is white or not? And yes, I am playing the race card. What? I can't do that? Why?

The fact of the matter is this: If this teacher had pictures up of ANYONE except the Pope or a Great Patriot or a Christian religious figure, (Martin Luther, St. Christopher name you figure) nobody would have DARED to complain at all. They would have cowered in fear of "offending" his "culture", and not one word would have been said about it.

But the culture of this country, the culture of AMERICA, that is overwhelmingly Christian and holds our Founding FATHERS in EXTREMELY HIGH ESTEEM is targeted and allowed to be attacked, and any that DARE to stand up and say ENOUGH!!! are labeled as "racist" and "religious zealots"!!!!

I have had ENOUGH myself.

To those of you that believe you can continue to attack the Patriotic underpinnings of this Great Nation I have a small bit of advice; We will NOT continue to stand silent while you take away our freedom to live as we so choose. You will not be able to continue to to force us to hide in the shadows, fearful of "offending" your tender sensibilities. Someday, you will push one too many times, and when we rise up to push back, you will feel the Absolute and Rightous Fury of Free Men once again Claiming what God has decreed to be our Right.

I am a busy guy...I work in films and train racehorses, raise money for charities and promote musicians.

That is what my profile says, and indeed I am busy, although a few things are going on that aren't in the profile (radio station) and some things that are there aren't happening at the moment (raising money for charity), and the racehorses aren't running right now. In fact I am down to one horse and she is being trained for dressage, a discipline that I do not handle, so I have a trainer that does do that handling the filly at the moment.

Well, Woman Honor Thyself tried to tag me with a meme the other day, but she neglected to actually MENTION THIS FACT ON HER BLOG, which, as I told her, means that the tag is null and void.

However, the inestimatable The Mary Hunter did mention his victims by name when he tagged me with this meme of death. Actually I call all meme's "meme's of death", but I always try to play along.

So in the spirit of playing along, I will follow the "For The Sake Of Music Meme" and list the rules, and the songs. I am not going to tag seven people, because I know that at this stage of the game most of the folks I would tag have done it.

From HelenaIR.com comes the news that the Montana State Library has cancelled a showing of the film "The ACLU Freedom Files'' due to complaints from residents and state employees about the ACLU having a forum and because "the presentation might be one-sided in its criticism of the Patriot Act".

Bravo!!!

Sara J. Groves, a State Library spokeswoman, said;

"They weren't really protesting the video; they were protesting the ACLU being at a state agency...That was the majority of the complaints.''

The library considered finding someone to counter the ACLU's position on the Patriot Act but couldn't on short notice. They might try such an event at a later date, Groves said. The ACLU of Montana, which was scheduled to moderate Friday's forum, said it was disappointed in the State Library's decision.

The ACLU has been a staunch critic of the Patriot Act.

Scott Crichton, executive director of the ACLU Montana, had this to say in response:

"I think the government has a bully pulpit day in and day out about why intrusions into our privacy are warranted....All the video does is counter some of the assertions the government continues to make, and helps people to understand why the Patriot Act is a threat to people's privacy.....As we have made clear, since its passage, any time, any place the government wants to make their case, we are happy to engage in principled debate with them,''

Is that a hoot? The ACLU saying they will engage in "principled debate".....

Crichton also said it is hard to find someone in Montana who supports the Patriot Act and doesn't work for the federal government.

If it is so hard to find someone that supports the Patriot Act in Montana the audience would be pretty receptive to the idea of a film "produced by the ACLU on people whose civil liberties have been threatened".
I am really trying to understand the point he was trying to make with that statement. He wants to talk to people that support the Patriot Act and dont' work for the government? Or he wants to talk to people that don't support the Act and work for the government? Or is he saying that the only people in Montana that support the Patriot Act work for the government and therefore he actually expected to be able to show his little piece of propaganda film denigrating the government for attempting to secure the safety of our countries citizens?


To all of you that are going to start blathering on about the ACLU's right to show this film and Free Speech issues let me head you off at the pass and save your keyboard some abuse.

A library is a public building, and as such the public gets to decide what it wants and doesn't want to have happen there. And the people of Montana didn't want to give the ACLU a forum for their anti-American drivel.

I am all for free speech. And the people in Montana spoke loudly and clearly.

I now have a new respect for Montana.

Since Sept. 11, 417 people have been charged in federal terrorism-related cases, resulting in 228 convictions or guilty pleas, according to the most recent Justice Department data. Justice spokesman Bryan Sierra said the department does not categorize arrests by ethnicity or religion.

Immigration data underscores the extra attention the government has paid to immigrants from predominantly Arab and Muslim nations since the attacks.

Between October 1, 2000, and September 30, 2001, the U.S. deported 589 immigrants to 20 nations around the Middle East and Central Asia. In the next 12-month period, beginning weeks after Sept. 11, deportations to those nations rose to 1,674 and peaked at 1,759 in 2003.

By last year, the number of deported immigrants to the nations had fallen to 1,167, according to Homeland Security Department data.

As I once noted, the people that have the most to lose in the face of another terrorist attack by Islamists, are the American Muslim population.

Also, I would be little surprised if the details of the convictions noted above and the deportations were connected to Hamas and Hezballah support, though, it's clear there have been other cases of people trying to insert themselves into the general "jihad" movement. It's just that the Palestinian "cause" has been around much longer and actively working the Muslim community as well as campuses around the US.

I just wonder how many people knew there have been over 200 convictions for terrorist related activities in the US?
